About FCI
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is a government organization that looks after the country’s food supply. It was set up in 1965 under the Food Corporations Act of 1964. FCI mainly takes care of buying food grains like wheat and rice from farmers, storing them safely, and then distributing them across the country.
Its main goal is to make sure food is available to people at fair prices, keep market prices stable, and give farmers support through the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
