Subjects in FCI AG 3

The FCI AG 3 Phase 1 exam consists of 4 subjects:

  • Reasoning Ability
  • English Language
  • Numerical Aptitude
  • General Studies (GS) with Current Affairs

Number of Questions in FCI AG 3

Each section comprises 25 questions.

Maximum Marks in FCI AG 3

Each question carries 1 mark, resulting in 25 marks per subject and a total of 100 marks for Phase 1.

Time Duration in FCI AG 3

Phase 1 comprises 60 minutes, with 15 minutes assigned to each section.

FCI AG 3 Phase 1 exam consists of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs).

Nature of FCI AG 3

FCI AG 3 Phase 1 is qualifying in nature.

Paper Language of FCI AG 3

The FCI AG 3 exam is available in both Hindi and English, so you can choose the language you’re more comfortable with. However, the English Language section will be given only in English.

Total Number of Questions in FCI AG 3

There are a total of 100 questions and each question is worth 1 mark.

The total marks for the FCI AG 3 Phase 1 exam are 100.

Negative Marking of FCI AG 3

In the FCI AG 3 exam, there is negative marking. For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be cut. But if you skip a question and leave it unanswered, you won’t lose any marks.

Duration of FCI AG 3

In the FCI AG 3 Phase 1 exam, you’ll get 60 minutes (1 hour) in total. But the time is divided section-wise you’ll have 15 minutes for each subject, and once that time is over, you’ll automatically move to the next section.

  • If you’re applying for General or Depot posts, you only have to give Paper 1.
  • If you’re applying for Accounts or Technical posts, you’ll need to attempt both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

The FCI AG 3 Phase 2 exam is held in online mode, where you will get multiple-choice questions (MCQs). You just need to select the correct answer from the options given on the computer screen.

Paper Language of FCI AG 3

The Phase 2 exam can be taken in both Hindi and English. However, the English Language section is only available in English.

Total Marks of FCI AG 3


The Phase 2 exam has a total of 240 marks.

  • Paper 1 is for 120 marks:
    • English Language – 25 marks
    • Reasoning Ability – 25 marks
    • Numerical Aptitude – 25 marks
    • General Studies – 45 marks
  • Paper 2 is also for 120 marks, where each question carries 2 marks.

Cut-Off Marks of FCI AG 3


The cut-off marks are fixed based on the number of candidates to be shortlisted (as per the calling ratio).

Negative Marking of FCI AG 3


There is a penalty for wrong answers.

  • In Paper 1, 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
  • In Paper 2, 0.50 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
  • No marks are cut if you skip a question.

FCI AG 3 Pattern Change

Till 2019

  • In Phase 1, the exam had only 3 subjects:
    • English Language – 30 questions, 30 marks, 20 minutes
    • Reasoning Ability – 35 questions, 35 marks, 20 minutes
    • Numerical Aptitude – 35 questions, 35 marks, 20 minutes
  • In Phase 2, Paper 1 did not have separate sections.
    It had 120 MCQs covering a mix of topics like:
    • Reasoning/General Intelligence
    • English Language
    • Computer Proficiency
    • General Awareness & Current Events
    • Data Analysis, Numerical Ability, and Data Interpretation

  • A new subject General Studies was added in Phase 1. Now it has 4 subjects:
